The chalet is situated in the heart of the village of Jaun near Charmey in the Gruyere region, Switzerland. It is in the canton of Fribourg but on the cantonal border with the Bernese Oberland with the famous resort of Gstaad nearby.The Chalet
The chalet sleeps 6-8 people. The chalet is a semi-detached property and is situated in the heart of the village of Jaun near Charmey (Gruyere region) in Switzerland. It is in the canton of Fribourg but very near the cantonal border with the Bernese Oberland. In fact, the Jaun pass (1600m) is approximately 10km away. Both Bern and Lausanne are approximately 50 minutes from Jaun.Jaun village is very picturesque and typically Swiss, it has a Hotel, Post Office, Bank (with ATM), two grocery stores (with fresh bread, the bakery is next to the chalet) and a village bar as well as regular bus services. There are two churches in Jaun and very pretty waterfall.

Local to Jaun
Skiing
There is local skiing in the village or Jaun and at nearby Charmey, as well as the whole Gstaad skiing area to explore. The Gstaad ski region is comprised of Gstaad, Schoenried, Saanenmoser, Zweisimmen and Rougemont. The nearest of these is Zweisimmen, which is only 20 -25 minutes drive from the chalet via the Jaun pass. The Jaun pass is only ever closed if there has been heavy snowfall and the snowploughs haven't reached it. If this is the case, there is the village of Charmey approximately 12 km away in the other direction, which has a Gondelbahn to a medium size ski area. Charmey is in the Gruyere region (famous for its cheese) and there is also a magnificent castle in Gruyere, a short drive away.
